Project Story: A Quiet New Chapter
Location: Private Villa, Dubai
Scope: Full Interior Renovation
Style: Timeless, Tranquil, Lived-in, Curated
What began as an investment soon became the perfect place to slow down. As traffic and other changes reshaped our previous neighborhood, this villa offered a calmer rhythm—and a chance to start fresh. With our son now living in Sydney, we were entering a new chapter as empty nesters, and I wanted the design to reflect just that: ease, calm, and a lived-in beauty.
The biggest challenge? Downsizing. Our previous home had a generously sized kitchen and open living spaces ideal for entertaining. This villa offered charm and potential—but required creative space planning and a reimagined flow. We wanted to preserve as many of our existing pieces as possible, giving them new context and purpose.
The kitchen was completely reworked. We broke into the former maid’s room to extend the space and repurposed the in-between laundry into a larder. What was once a compact layout now feels open and intentional. We also uncovered an awkward, previously inaccessible space under the stairs—now transformed into a concealed storage nook off the kitchen. A small but deeply satisfying win.
The entire MEP system was overhauled to support how we actually live in the space. Bathrooms were renovated with the existing plumbing retained to stay within budget, and wall moldings were added throughout to lend character and dimension. Engineered oak herringbone flooring brought warmth and timeless elegance—tying each room together with ease.
The process was intense but moved with a steadily. Coordinating everything from the MEP upgrades and tiling to the final paint and finishes required precision, but with a clear vision and a structured plan, the transformation came together smoothly—remarkably so for a three-month turnaround.
Every corner holds a story, but if I had to choose a favourite, it would be our living and dining space. The natural light, the view of the garden, the quiet—it’s everything we hoped this next chapter would be.
